| Summary Abstract: | This report presents the results of an study into the identification of minerals present in representative soils of the Huila District in south-west Angola. The study was based on 58 soil samples collected from 19 representative soil profiles of Huila. The main clays studied were: Kaolinite, Montmorillonite and Illite, and for the identification of their minerals, the laboratory techniques used were: 1. Chemical Analysis; 2. X-Ray Diffraction; 3. Thermal Analysis (Dehydration Curves & Thermodifferential Analysis); 4. Electron Microscopy; 5. Exchange Capacity; 6. Retention of Polar Liquids. This Report No. 11 was published in 1959, as part of the series "Memorias da Junta de Investigacoes do Ultramar - 2nd Series". |
