| Summary Abstract: | This Report presents the Dissertation submitted by the author (Aria Lobo Azevedo) to opt for a position as full Professor of the Higher Institute of Agronomy of Angola. The report, all in Portuguese, presents a comprehensive review of the main soils of Angola; including their classification, distribution, pedogenesis, physicochemical properties, morphological characteristics, fertility and agricultural management aspects. The soils are classified into 14 main Soil Great Groups and 40 Soil Groups and Sub-Groups, which are generally described in the report. Also included are broad descriptions of Catenary and Non-Catenary Soil Associations. Bound to the report there is a colour Soil Map ("Esboco Pedologico") at 1:4,000,000 scale, showing the distribution of 29 Soil Map Units. |
