 | Summary Abstract: | This Report presents the findings of a study carried-out attempting to define, through causative relations, the influences exerted by the geomorphological conditions on the soil genesis of the large Central Zone of Angola. Evidence was found that there is a close correlation between geomorphological conditions and pedogenesis; thus, for the same geological formation, in which relatively uniform climate conditions occur, it is possible to foresee the occurrence of the various soil units corresponding to each geomorphological unit. Also, a final analysis brings to similar conclusions when a comparison is drawn between geomorpho-pedological units and the pattern of distribution of rural populations. Emphasis of the study is placed on the landscape geomorphological interpretation as a fundamental device for pedological studies. The report includes many figures, eleven black & white photos, and a 1:1M scale Geomorphological and Population Distribution Map bound at the rear of the report. |
