Summary Abstract: | This report presents the findings of a reconnaissance survey of the soil conditions of the Tana Delta, requested by the Tana River Authority, aimed to assess the suitability of the area for irrigation development. The preliminary mapping of the soils was done on physiographic basis, relying on photo-interpretation and on a limited number of field observations. The report is accompanied by two map sheets: 1. Reconnaissance Soil Map of the Voi Area (Scale 1:250,000), this is a printed colour map showing the distribution of 48 soil map units; 2. Photo Interpretation Map of the Physiography of the Tana Delta (1:100,000 scale), a black & white map depicting the distribution of 13 physiographic map units. |
