Summary Abstract:This is the third edition (publ. in 1988) of the book "Veld Types of South Africa" by P.H. Acocks, which was originally published in 1952. The book presents a very comprehensive account and characterisation of the various Veld Types of South Africa. The Veld Types are grouped and described according to their botanical-vegetational composition and occurrence in specific habitats, including; Coastal Tropical Forest Types, Inland Tropical Forests, Tropical Bush and Savanna Types (Bushveld), Karoo and Karroid Types, Temperate and Transitional Forest and Scrub Types, and Sclerophyllous Bush Types. The document includes five printed colour (text) maps at scale 1:7,000,000 each, and numerous black and white photographs of Veld Types and plant species.
