| Summary Abstract: | This item is part of a series describing WI soils, and entitled, ' Studies in West Indian Soils' published in the1930/40s. A key author is Francis Hardy. These volumes are given Roman Numerals. The Wossac collection holds reports from this series , including for Antigua, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat ,St Lucia, St Vincent, St Kitts-Nevis Trinidad and as separate report for Tobago. There is also a summary document by Hardy at # 44836 entitled - Soil Classification in the Caribbean Region and a paper in Tropical Agriculture Vol 98, #3 dated 2021.The reports presents the results of a preliminary investigation of some of the soils of with the purpose of gaining information on the range of soil-types that occur in the cultivated lands of the country, with particular reference to their origin from various rock formations.This report on St Lucia describes a field reconnaissance and the results of 320 soil samples collected mostly from 34 profile pits from various sites. |
