Summary Abstract:This item is part of a series describing WI soils, and entitled, ' Studies in West Indian Soils' published in the mid-1930s. A key author is Francis Hardy. These volumes are given Roman Numerals. The Wossac collection holds reports from this series , including for Antigua, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat ,St Lucia, St Vincent, St Kitts-Nevis Trinidad and as separate report for Tobago. There is also a summary document by Hardy at # 44836 entitled - Soil Classification in the Caribbean Region and a paper in Tropical Agriculture Vol 98, #3 dated 2021. This Montserrat report describes a field reconnaissance and presents the results of subsequent laboratory examination of some 576 soil profile samples collected. It is divided into two parts. Part 1 deals with the climate agriculture, geology, soil formation an soils of Montserrat and is mainly descriptive and factual.
