| Summary Abstract: | A fragile typewritten report in a folder undated by four authors, which may be linked to the Soils Map at scale., 1:250,000 ( #47709), dated 1946. This map has a legend with 19 named mapping units, most of which are listed at Table 15 in the report which provides some chemical data. Information in the report includes morphology and characteristics of soils, and vegetation, plus details of climate and crops. There is also included social and additional information on fishing minor industry. Tables in the report list data from 1939 inferring this document is dated in the 1930s and pre-dates the 1946. map.There is no mention of the accompanying map but three of the report authors are also noted on the map. There was clearly an active Bureau of Soils in 1946 as noted on the map and a Division of Soil Survey and Conservation at the time of the report. |
