| Summary Abstract: | Memoir 2 -The Soils of the Eastern Province of Uganda - forms part of a set of 6 Memoirs of the Series 1: Soils of the Research Division. These are: M.1: An Introduction to the Soils of the Uganda Protectorate; M.3: The Soils of Northern Province; M.4: The Soils & Land Use of Buganda; M.5: The Soils of Karamoja District; and M.6: The Soils of the Western Province. This Memoir 2 presents the findings of a Reconnaissance Soil Survey, aimed to identify & describe the soils of the Province and depict their distribution on a map showing 26 soil map units, based mainly on soil series, catenas & soil complexes. The Memoir includes the profile description of 52 dominant soil types, mainly soil series, with their analytical data and a summary of their main physico-chemical characteristics. The Memoir is accompanied (in a back-cover pocket) by 1 Geomorphology Map (1:1,000,000) and 1 Soil Map (1:500,000).
